Welcome to Farthing Auditorium—now the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. Located on the Appalachian State University campus at 733 Rivers St., Boone, NC 28608, this 1,660-seat, multi-use venue hosts a variety of performances, from touring shows to campus events. After a renovation funded in part by Bonnie and Jamie Schaefer, the center reopened in 2013 and continues to bring notable artistry to the mountains.   • Originally Farthing Auditorium; renamed Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts after a $7 million gift from Bonnie and Jamie Schaefer, with the renovation opening in July 2013.
  • Capacity: 1,660 seats (multi-use auditorium on the App State campus).
  • Location: 733 Rivers St., Boone, NC 28608, on the Appalachian State University campus.
  • Seating options: non-tiered and tiered seating charts are available on the Schaefer Center site.
  • Parking: plentiful parking; after 5pm weekdays and on weekends any campus lot may be used; Peacock lot across Rivers Street; Blue Ridge Parking Deck behind the Center; Rivers Street and College Street parking decks also available (weekday 7am-5pm Rivers St Deck required).
