About Ground Zero Blues Club

Ground Zero Blues Club, opened in May 2001, is a legendary blues venue housed in a repurposed downtown building just steps from the Delta Blues Museum. Co-founded by Morgan Freeman, Howard Stovall, and Eric Meier (with former co-owner Bill Luckett until 2021), the club has become a cornerstone of the Mississippi blues scene, hosting iconic names and cultivating a vibrant, authentic atmosphere.

Whether you’re seeking a late-night blues crawl or a cultural deep dive into the Delta’s musical roots, Ground Zero offers a dynamic experience with ample standing room for an energetic night or comfortable seating for a more intimate show. The venue is connected to a broader Delta blues ecosystem, including nearby Cat Head and other downtown attractions, all within easy walking distance.

Plan your visit with practical details like parking, transit options, and nearby lodging to make your trip seamless. And yes, we’ve got you covered on securing your seats for upcoming performances and events, including the annual Juke Joint Festival and the Symphonic Blues Experience that has energized the venue since 2022.

Ground Zero’s upstairs suites—Delta Cotton Company apartments—offer a unique lodging option just above the club, blending living space with proximity to late-night performances. For a full Delta experience, consider nearby hotels such as Travelers Hotel and The Lofts at the Five & Dime, along with the distinctive Shack Up Inn for a stay that's as characterful as the music itself.

Amid the Delta’s rich musical landscape, Ground Zero remains a reliable, no-fruss gateway to authentic Mississippi blues. We’ve got you covered with practical details, seating options, and trusted partner recommendations to help you secure your tickets and plan your stay with confidence.
