About Highland Bayou Park

Welcome to Highland Bayou Park, a expansive 230-acre city park in La Marque, TX, and the home of Bayou Fest. Formerly known as Highland Bayou Park, it now operates under the name Mac McGaffey Highland Bayou Park. The park offers a mix of shaded spaces, playgrounds, sports facilities, and a kayak launch, making it a versatile venue for concerts, community events, and everyday outdoor fun.

Whether you’re attending the annual Bayou Fest, hosting a pavilion rental, or just enjoying a day outdoors, we’ve got you covered with practical details on seating, parking, transit, and nearby lodging and dining options to help you plan your visit with ease.

Seating & Venue Layout
There is no formal fixed seating chart across the park. Fixed seating within designated spaces includes 17 picnic tables at the Dick Arnett Pavilion and 2 picnic tables at the Al Reida Pavilion. For events like Bayou Fest, organizers often set up additional temporary seating and viewing areas. If you’re planning a visit for a specific event, we recommend confirming arrangements with the event host or the City of La Marque ahead of time to secure ideal spots.

Parking & Pavilion Rentals
The park offers event parking and pavilion rentals for groups seeking covered space. When you’re camping out for Bayou Fest or a special gathering, reserving a pavilion ensures predictable space close to park amenities.

Amenities & Activities
Park highlights include a kayak launch, a baseball field, tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and 22 shade structures to keep you comfortable while you enjoy the outdoors or a festival lineup.

Transit & Getting There
Local La Marque transit stops serve the area. In 2025, the Splash bus service (Galveston–Texas City) was announced, providing another convenient option for event days. Rideshare services are also commonly available to and from the park.

Nearby Hotels & Restaurants
For convenient lodging and dining, consider these nearby options: Red Roof Inn La Marque (5201 Gulf Freeway), Travel Inn by OYO La Marque (4533 Gulf Freeway), and Super 8 La Marque (312 Delany Rd). We highlight affiliate partner recommendations for reliable stays and tasty meals, helping you secure comfortable accommodations before or after Bayou Fest or other park events.
