About Hilltop Ski Area
Hilltop Ski Area is a welcoming ski area and bike park located in Far North Bicentennial Park in Anchorage, Alaska. With 30 skiable acres, 12 trails, and a 294-foot vertical, it’s a great destination for families and beginners, as well as athletes looking to train or ride in a scenic northern setting. The hill opened in 1984, following the legacy of the original Hilltop Ski Area that operated from 1967 to 1983. Whether you’re carving a gentle run on the green slopes or enjoying an afternoon on the patio during the summer events, we’ve got you covered with practical details on seating, parking, transportation, and nearby lodging and dining. We’ll help you secure your seats and plan a smooth visit so you can focus on the snow, the scenery, and the experience.
Getting here is simplest by car, taxi, or rideshare; the city bus does not reach Hilltop. After you arrive, you’ll find a straightforward lift layout—one triple chairlift (capacity 1800 riders/hour), a beginner surface lift, and a platter lift—designed to move guests efficiently in a compact, family-friendly environment. In addition to winter skiing, Hilltop hosts seasonal events such as the Alaska Mountain Bike Festival and Summer Solstice Celebration (June 2025) and Music on the Patio (June 2025). Nearby amenities include a range of dining and lodging options in downtown and midtown Anchorage. We’ve highlighted affiliate partners to help you book trusted hotels and convenient dining that align with your plans. For updates, verify event dates as some activities may be scheduled on specific days or rescheduled.
