With three intimate performance spaces—the OneAmerica Mainstage (600 seats), the Janet Allen Stage (275 seats), and the Cabaret (75 seats)—IRT offers a diverse season of classic and contemporary theater. Located at 140 W. Washington Street, IRT combines rich architectural charm with modern stagecraft, making it a reliable pick for a memorable evening of live theater in Indianapolis.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned theater-goer, we’ve got you covered with easy ticket options, clear seating information, convenient parking, and nearby hotel and dining recommendations to round out your night in downtown Indy.

IRT is known for signature productions like A Christmas Carol and David Mamet-inspired returns such as Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, as well as touring favorites like Come From Away and Nina Simone: Four Women. JA Stage—formerly the Upperstage—continues to showcase bold new works. The venue has strong accessibility and convenience features, including discounted parking at select downtown garages (Circle Center Mall, Court Street, Circle Block) with valet and prepay options and validation provided by IRT staff. The IndyGo Red Line stop is right next to the theatre, and downtown bus routes service the area, making it easy to reach without a car.
