About Indiana/World Skating Academy

The Indiana/World Skating Academy (I/WSA) has a storied role in Indianapolis sports and entertainment history. Established in 1987, it originally housed two ice rinks: the Olympic-size rink (100 by 200 ft) and the NHL-size American Rink (85 by 200 ft), with seating for about 1,000 around the American Rink. After activities paused in 2013, Pan Am Sports Incorporated took over daily operations, and the American Rink was rebranded as the Pan Am Pavilion, a lively live music and events venue.

The Pan Am Pavilion opened as a 3,000-capacity event space and hosted hundreds of events, contributing to Indianapolis’ era of pan-urban entertainment. In 2024, demolition cleared Pan Am Pavilion and Pan Am Plaza as part of the ICC expansion and the construction of a new Hilton Signia hotel project.
