About Mercyhurst Ice Center

The Mercyhurst Ice Center (MIC) is an on-campus ice arena on the Mercyhurst University campus in Erie, Pennsylvania. Built in 1991 as part of Mercyhurst’s athletic complex, it serves as the home rink for the Mercyhurst Lakers men’s and women’s hockey teams. With a capacity of 1,500 for hockey events, MIC offers an intimate setting with seating that wraps around the ice, enhanced by an interactive seating chart to help you secure your seats with ease.

On-site parking is available in the Ice Center Lot (Lot 10) and surrounding campus lots. Parking is free but spots can fill quickly, especially on game nights. Public transit options via EMTA and local bus routes provide convenient access to East 38th Street and the campus area. For visitors staying in Erie, there are solid hotel choices nearby, including Hilton Garden Inn Erie, Courtyard Erie Ambassador Conference Center, and SpringHill Suites Erie. We’ve highlighted trusted partners for easy stays and meals near MIC to help you plan a smooth visit. The venue has hosted notable events like the 1995 NCAA Men’s Division II Ice Hockey Championship and CHA Playoffs, and remains a key part of Mercyhurst’s athletic legacy. A 2019 renovation refreshed the ice surface and boards, and in 2023 the VIP lounge was renamed the Erie News Now Lounge, continuing to provide an enhanced experience inside this beloved on-campus venue.
