About Ontario Place West Channel
Ontario Place West Channel is a man-made, flat-water watercourse along the Lake Ontario shore, used for rowing, paddling and a range of water sport competitions. Located between Ontario Place’s west island and Exhibition Place, facing Marilyn Bell Park, this venue has a storied athletic history and a practical, no-fuss setup for event-goers. We’ve got you covered with seating options for large events, access details, and trusted hotel and dining recommendations to help you plan a smooth visit.
Home to the Argonaut Rowing Club since 1921, the West Channel is more than a racecourse—it's a community hub for water sports and competitive events in Toronto. While there isn’t fixed seating at the site, temporary grandstands have been used for major events, with two grandstands deployed during the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games. This page covers seating info, parking and transportation, and nearby accommodations and eateries to help you secure your tickets and plan your trip with confidence.
Transit and parking options emphasize ease of access. There is no general public parking on-site; accessible parking is available in Parking Lot 2 (east of the main gates). For parking, look for near-by Exhibition Place lots. Best routes usually involve Exhibition GO or TTC connections to get you to the entrance efficiently. If you’re attending events such as open-water swims, triathlons, wakeboarding world championships, or dragon boat races, you’ll find a straightforward, unfussy entry experience with plenty of nearby amenities.
For hotels and dining, we’ve curated affiliate-friendly picks to help you stay comfortable and fueled without losing momentum on event day. As your go-to connection, we’ve got you covered with trusted partner options for a convenient stay and great meals before or after the event.
