About Scotiabank Centre
Scotiabank Centre is Halifax’s hub for sports, concerts, and major events. As Atlantic Canada’s largest multipurpose facility, it hosts top-tier hockey, basketball, concerts, and family shows in a dynamic, well-equipped venue. With a capacity spanning roughly 10,500+ for ice hockey and around 11,000+ for basketball, and up to 13,000 for larger concerts, the centre draws crowds from across the region and beyond. The venue is home to the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) and the Halifax Thunderbirds (NLL), offering exciting, fast-paced action on a regular basis.
Opened in 1978 as the Halifax Metro Centre and renamed Scotiabank Centre in 2014, the venue recently renewed its naming rights in February 2025 for five years, continuing its status as a trusted anchor of Halifax’s downtown experience. The arena features West and East seating with skyboxes and executive suites, and a detailed Seating & Amenities Map is available for planning your visit. Whether you’re attending a professional game, a touring concert, or a marquee show like Cirque du Soleil, this venue is built to deliver a memorable night out.
Getting there is straightforward from downtown Halifax via Halifax Transit, with several bus stops conveniently nearby. Parking is primarily street parking, with city parking information available through the Halifax municipality. After the show, explore nearby dining and lodging options to extend your visit.
