Teatro Arena del Sole is a historic Bologna theatre complex managed by Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione (ERT). Nestled in the heart of Bologna at Via Indipendenza 44, the venue combines classic performance spaces with modern renovations and a tradition dating back to the early 19th century. The theatre now includes the large Sala Leo de Berardinis (formerly the main hall) with about 952 seats, and the intimate Sala Thierry Salmon (studio) with a capacity of roughly 180–220 seats. Smaller spaces include Sala degli Archi (about 65 seats) and the outdoor Chiostro all’aperto (about 180), used for events and gatherings. The halls were renamed in 2014 to honor Leo de Berardinis and Thierry Salmon. After a renovation that culminated in a formal inauguration in 1995, the venue continues to host major theatre productions and immersive performances, such as Cuocolo/Bosetti in 2024.
