The Ellipse, officially known as The Ellipse and commonly listed as President's Park South, sits at the heart of President's Park South. Spanning 52 acres in the shadows of the White House, this public park is a versatile canvas for community gatherings, concerts, and seasonal celebrations like the National Christmas Tree. Managed by the National Park Service, The Ellipse provides a natural, open-air setting with lawn space and benches along walking paths. Note: The Ellipse is not a venue with fixed seating. Expect open lawn areas and flexible rIghts of use; seating is on benches along paths and any attendance is subject to park rules and event permissions.

Getting there is easiest with public transit. The closest Metro stations are Federal Triangle and Metro Center. If you’re driving, plan ahead: there is no dedicated parking on the Ellipse, and nearby spots can fill up quickly. Consider coordinating rideshares or using nearby garage parking in downtown DC. After an event, you’ll find a number of nearby hotels and restaurants within walking distance, including iconic properties like The Jefferson, Willard InterContinental Washington, and JW Marriott Washington, DC.
