About UMBC Field House

Welcome to the UMBC Field House, now known as Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena (CEIA) at UMBC. Located at 1000 Hilltop Circle in Baltimore, MD, this on-campus multi-purpose arena hosts UMBC basketball and volleyball, along with concerts and commencements. Since opening as the on-campus Event Center in 2018 and rebranding in 2021, CEIA has become a central hub for Retriever fans and events in the Baltimore area. The arena seats roughly 6,000 total (about 5,000 in the bowl plus around 1,000 on the floor) across a bowl configuration with floor seating. Whether you’re planning to catch a game or a concert, we’ve got you covered with practical guidance on seating, parking, transit, and nearby lodging and dining.

Seating is arranged around the court in a bowl-and-floor setup. For a smooth experience, plan to arrive early and secure your seats. Parking is typically in the Stadium Lot or along Hilltop Circle, with UMBC’s paid lot rules. Transit options include UMBC Transit shuttles, CityLink Yellow, local MTA stops, and convenient MARC/Amtrak access from nearby hubs. If you’re visiting for an event, explore nearby hotels and dining courtesy of our affiliate partners to simplify your stay in Baltimore. Past notable events at UMBC include championship games, commencements, and concerts held on campus.
