About University of London
Welcome to Senate House, the flagship conference and banquet venue within the University of London. Housed in a Grade II*-listed building on Malet Street, this historic academic event space is purpose-built for conferences, meetings, ceremonies, and large receptions. With multiple configurable spaces, easy access to transport, and nearby hotels and restaurants, Senate House offers a reliable, no-fuss experience for organizers and guests alike. Secure your seats and make your event memorable with a venue that blends tradition with modern event functionality.
Key spaces include Beveridge Hall (up to 375 seats), MacMillan Hall (up to 220 seats), Chancellor’s Hall (up to 150 seats), and the Senate Room (up to 80 seats). The total internal space spans about 26,910 square feet, with interactive 3D floor plans available to tailor room configurations to your needs.
There is no dedicated on-site parking, but a nearby visitor car park sits approximately 200 meters from the building. The venue is well-served by public transport, including Russell Square, Goodge Street, Tottenham Court Road, and Euston Square Underground stations, plus multiple bus routes. Nearby hotels and dining options provide convenient accommodations and catering choices for guests.
Notable for conferences, award ceremonies, large receptions, and film shoots, Senate House is a trusted location for high-caliber events in London. While the historic University of London Union building on Malet Street was renamed to Student Central after 2010 and subsequently leased to other institutions, Senate House itself remains the primary historic venue for formal events and ceremonies within the University of London campus.
Geographically, Senate House sits in the Bloomsbury area of central London, offering easy access for attendees nationwide. Whether you’re coordinating a multi-session conference, a formal gala, or a ceremonial event, we’re here to help you secure your spaces, coordinate logistics, and connect you with trusted partners for catering, hotels, and nearby amenities.
