About Karajan-Akademie of the Berliner Philharmoniker
Join us for an inspiring evening as the Karajan-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker brings a weeklong residency to the University of Michigan. This performance at Rackham Auditorium in Ann Arbor features a chamber-rich program performed by Karajan-Akademie scholars alongside Berliner Philharmoniker mentors and UMich student musicians. It’s a unique chance to hear top-tier European training translated into a vivid American campus experience.

Program highlights include Beethoven Septet in E-flat Major, Op. 20; Dmitri Shostakovich Prelude and Scherzo for String Octet, Op. 11; Julia Wolfe Big Reeling; and Béla Bartók Divertimento for String Orchestra, Sz. 113. Christophe Hórak joins in place of Noah Bendix-Balgley, continuing the mentorship tradition within the Karajan-Akademie.
