Atlanta Opera has been a cornerstone of the Southeast’s classical music scene since its 1979 founding as The Atlanta Civic Opera. From its mainstage home at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre since 2007, the company regularly presents four mainstage productions per season, while also nurturing emerging artists through commissions, festivals, and collaborations with local arts institutions. Known for recording projects such as Ash: The Golden Ticket (Albany Records, 2012) and the full orchestral Glory Denied, released via The Atlanta Opera Film Studio, the company also invests in contemporary works through the NOW Festival and NOW Festival/96-Hour Opera Project, which culminates in world premieres and competition showcases in 2025. Upcoming 2025 tour dates at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre include Semele (June 7–15, 2025), La Traviata (November 8–16, 2025), and La Belle et la Bête (November 15, 2025), with additional season collaborations with Alliance Theatre.
