The Austin Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is Austin’s oldest performing arts organization, founded in 1911. With a rich history spanning over a century, the ASO performs throughout the year at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, including the Dell Hall, delivering a dynamic mix of Masterworks Series, Butler Pops, and engaging educational programs like ASO Tuneful Tales and Young People’s Concerts. Led by Music Director and Conductor Peter Bay since 1998, the ASO has become an integral part of Austin’s cultural fabric, guiding audiences through transformative symphonic experiences. As Bay plans retirement discussions following the 2026-27 season, the organization continues to plan for a thoughtful leadership transition, ensuring continuity for audiences now and in the future.
