About Bottleneck

The Bottleneck is Lawrence, Kansas’s iconic independent rock/indie club, a cornerstone of the city’s vibrant live music scene. Nestled at 737 New Hampshire St, the venue has hosted a wide range of acts from rising indie artists to established rock acts, and continues to be a must-visit for music lovers in the region. With a flexible capacity that ranges from about 300 to 450 depending on the configuration, Bottleneck offers a raw, intimate concert experience in a historically rich space that has evolved from Off the Wall Hall and Cogburn's to the venue we know today as Bottleneck (since 1985).

Whether you’re here for a high-energy night of guitar-driven melodies or a more intimate indie showcase, Bottleneck’s standing-room setup is designed to put you close to the performers, with occasional shows offering limited seating or tables. The venue is part of a broader Lawrence music ecosystem that benefits from recent transit improvements and a network of nearby hotels and dining options, making it easy to pair a show with a great stay and meal.

Parking is practical but can require a little planning. Street parking on New Hampshire Street is common, and there are nearby public lots and paid garages. Arriving early often yields the best options. For travelers using public transit, Bottleneck is served by Lawrence Transit with downtown stops, and the newly opened Central Station in 2024 enhances regional bus access. If you’re visiting from out of town, consider staying at nearby hotels like the Eldridge Hotel, SpringHill Suites Lawrence Downtown, or Econo Lodge, all within a short distance and easy to reach after a show. We’ve highlighted affiliate hotel and dining partners to help you secure convenient, comfortable options close to the venue.
