The State Theater in State College is a community-owned, nonprofit theatre and cinema hub that blends local artistry with touring performances. Opened as a Warner Bros. cinema in 1938, it reopened in 2006 to serve as a vibrant venue for live theatre, film screenings, and special broadcasts such as the Metropolitan Opera. With a Main Auditorium capacity of 591 and a smaller upstairs space called The Attic, the State Theater hosts everything from high school theatre’s Freddy Awards to intimate performances.
