Trio! brought together three virtuoso musicians—Stanley Clarke on bass, Jean‑Luc Ponty on violin, and Béla Fleck on banjo—for an improvisational, high‑level instrumental dialogue rooted in acoustic jazz fusion. Though no official Trio! releases exist in standard discographies, the ensemble is noted for its dynamic performances drawn largely from Ponty’s Rite of Strings (1995), with Fleck substituting for Al Di Meola on guitar during live sets. The group toured across the East Coast of the United States, parts of Canada, and appeared at major European festivals, delivering a sound that blends virtuosic technique with exploratory improvisation.
