Madison Square Garden sits right above Penn Station, making it the easiest major arena to reach in NYC. With 20,789 seats, The Garden hosts Knicks and Rangers games, sold-out concerts, and iconic events. We've got tickets for every event, plus the inside scoop on seating, transit, and where to grab a bite before showtime.

MSG Quick Facts

  • Address: 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10001
  • Capacity: 20,789 for concerts, 19,812 basketball, 18,006 hockey
  • Opened: 1968 (current building)
  • Transit: Direct access to Penn Station (LIRR, NJT, Amtrak) and Subway lines A,C,E,1,2,3

Seating at The Garden

MSG uses a 360-degree bowl with three main levels: floor/lower bowl, 100-level (event level), and 300-level upper bowl. For concerts, the stage usually sits at one end, so side-stage lower-bowl seats give the best sightlines. Basketball and hockey use the full bowl—center-court or center-ice seats in the 100s are the sweet spot. Suites ring the 200-level; Madison Suites on the upper bowl’s south side include great seats with the section you want.

Getting to Madison Square Garden

Penn Station is literally underneath the arena—take any train that terminates there (LIRR, NJ Transit, Amtrak) or the subway to 34 St–Penn Station. From Times Square it’s a 5-minute walk north. If you drive, reserve a spot in advance at one of the Penn District garages; typical rates run the best available price for event nights. Street parking is scarce and meters turn over fast—skip the headache and take the train.

Inside the Arena

Security uses walk-through metal detectors; arrive 45–60 min early for sold-out shows. Re-entry is not allowed, so finish your drinks before you leave the concourse. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and the MSG app shows restroom wait times and lets you order food to your great seats.
